    That’s patina. Keep your drivetrain clean and lubricated. Make sure your threads and seat post/stem aren’t seized.

    About the rust ring? Nothing in my opinion.

    Personally wouldn’t worry much about it. You could run a crinkled up ball of foil over the rust to remove it and then apply clear (or a matching blue) nail polish to seal it. I’ve done this with plenty of bikes to touch them up a bit. Just don’t get nail polish on the BB threads.

    I think you’re right to be worried, but mainly because as the rust progresses, it will take more paint with it. I’d remove everything, clean up the BB and the exposed metal as best as possible, and repaint it with some nail polish or similar easy-to-apply cover-up.

    It’s in an area that’s not terribly visible. I’d remove the BB, sand the rust off and paint over it. The masking is the only truly hard part.
