Shimano was making these only for a short time about 20 years ago. I think there was overlap with the reversed rear derailleurs (Low Normal, aka Rapid Rise) as well.

I have on pair of them in the parts bin. Didn’t work out, probably because of wrong (not especially slick) cable housing.

Any technology combined with rapid rise left a stale taste- they might have been more successful otherwise

Had them on my old mountain bike and hated them. Ended up taping them up in such a way that they only moved in the braking direction and not flopping around the shifting directions, then added thumbies for shifting.

you gotta give them a test ride, i personally wouldnt be happy with them, but i know people really happy about them and stocking 3 of each for future..
