  1. Give it a go on the weekend when you aren’t in a rush. It’s a good way to test it out without the pressure of running late for work if it doesn’t turn out to be a great route

At least where I live, google maps is the worst for bike routes. Best to find a local Reddit sub or Facebook group and get local advice IMO

  3. I would. I would also scout for forest paths and alternatives in the west side. Try using apps that have all the unpaved paths like OsmAnd.

I poked around on Strava heat maps in that area (brighter/lighter blue is more frequent trips, darker blue is less frequent trips), and it looks like there might be some decent routes through those surface streets to the east of South Road. It might be worth checking those out. You can also turn on the cycling map layer in Google Maps and it’ll show protected lanes.

I’d give it a shot, otherwise if it’s absolutely insane road I would make a longer route taking side streets on the east side of route 9 to eventually cross over

  6. If you don’t mind a bit of off-road and have a healthy disrespect for the rules, there’s the path alongside the rail line.
