Just wondering if anyone knows what tool I need to remove the 2x chainring mount on these fc-m675 slx cranks to mount a direct 1x? Or if it can even be done on this model of crank?

There is no tool, this cannot be done.
You can’t remove that chainring spider, but you can still mount a narrow-wide chainring, as long as the bcd is the same.
looks like pressed in. so you need a hydraulic press to push it out maybe? you need to build press mode for it. I’m sure it can be done with professional tools
