That’s the valve, which is attached to the tube, which inflates inside the tire. Im not sure it’s broken, it just looks like the tube has shifted in the tire, and the valve is open (the little top thingy can be screwed closed, and currently looks open). Regardless, the fix is to either reseat or replace the entire tube, which is a very basic skill you should learn.

Get a tire lever and a pump, and watch a YouTube video, and you’ll be there in no time.

  2. The tube has slipped out of alignment with the hole in the rim. Fully deflate it, and you should be able to slide it back into position. Any bike shop will help w this also, likely for free.

Also, get over that “just a girl” shit.

  3. Try to deflate your presta valve. Your tube has shifted in the rim.

If you grip the valve and the sidewall, you might be able to push it back. So the valve is vertical.

It’s also missing the ring the keeps it tight to the rim

And the little nut on the top should be tight unless you’re filling it with air, with the adapter

You see you have a gap?

Edit, look at the valve on the other wheel, do you see it looking different from this?

Inside the tire is a black innertube that filled with air. The ‘thingy’ is a valve stem.

Knowing how to change a tube is one of the more basic things in bike maintenance and is a good first step in learning to work on your own bike. And it will save you money.

Watch some youtube videos to learn how to do it. Here are some good ones:

You will need to buy a replacement tube (usually $5-$10), and a set of tire levers (they are cheap – usually around $5 – $10).

For the tube you will need to know the size. If unsure take a photo of the tire side where the sizing is printed and ask here or take it to a bike shop and ask them for a replacement tube.

  5. Presta valve tube in a wheel drilled for a Schrader valve.

Go to a shop and either get a grommet to reduce the size difference or get a Schrader valve tube installed.

Either way, you are riding your bike with pressure too low. When you brake, the tire is slipping on the rim and rotating.

  6. Depending on the bike wheel, it could be a presta or Schrader valve. A local bike shop should be able to help you sort it out. Best of luck!

Oh, your poor air tire filly thing.

I assume you’re running tubes because that wouldn’t hold air if it was tubeless. The tube has rotated in the wheel, is all. You should be able to deflate it and then rotate the tire and tube together to make the stem straight again. Worst case scenario you’ll have to pop one side of the tire off, but that’s a thing you should learn how to do if you don’t already have that skillset.
