This came up in conversation a couple days ago somewhere. I can't recall if it was on this sub, but you guys might be the only ones that actually care about this. Shimano pull ratios are listed as 1.1:1 for 11s & 12s systems, and 1.2:1 for 6-10s. I have here a 10s system that I would like to use an 11s XT rear mech on.
So, as you can see, the intended cable mount point is obvious and nicely painted. My new pull point that I have been massaging into place is shiny and exposed aluminum. This is approximately the shape you need to recreate to make this happen, quite tedious and definitely not something I'd recommend, but here it is.

Are you just letting the cable rub and cause the paint wear? What do you mean by massaging?
There are many 10s derailleurs that are dyna sys which means they’re compatible with 11 and 12
Worth pointing out that ten speed comes in both new and old pull ratios. But yes, “old road ten” and new mtb/dynasys require a hack. Personally, I’d just use a TanPan or Shiftmate.
