Got this mongoose grit from Walmart online for $400 years ago getting into the hobby. Since spent considerably more on modest upgrades. Was it worth it? probably not. Have I had a blast? absolutely.

Heeeyyyy…. I know where you’re at. I was just in meyersdale yesterday. That’s my favorite section of the GAP, with Ohiopile to Confluence coming in a close second. The bike looks pretty awesome for a Walmart bike!
I know it’s not the case, but Frankennike seems to have still a negative connotation. You got a killer bike, and so happy to see people can build amazing bikes on the cheap!
How is the quality of the frame? And what did you swap out exactly?
And as for the “worth part”: yeah you can save up for a better one, but will you bee that much better off? And what about the time you DID NOT RIDE, because you were saving up? What you did was absolutely worth it in the end!
