I recovered a pair of Sora brifters and the front and rear derailleurs off a wrecked Trek.
Was hoping to use them with a Claris 2x crankset for a 2×9 gravel/adventure build.
The left brifter says triple but I have an XT flat bar shifter that has a little switch on the back where I can change it from 3 to 2 gear and back with a flat bladed screwdriver.
Is there any way to adjust the Sora brifter or do I just ignore the extra shift.

Just stop it from moving from 2 to 3 with high limit screw. Watch for trim positions, road levers have 2 positions per chainring for, in Shimano words, “noise prevention mechanism”.
Assuming the indexing ( how much cable it pulls) is correct you can just use limit screws on the derailleur to tune out the third click. If it’s only a two by it can only travel so far, hook it up and try it.
