  1. Interesting how Schwinn just made different models using only a couple of different frames. Then just put different parts on it.

I have two Schwinn suburbans, a 67 and a 73, and a 74 varsity which all used 27 inch wheels and have the same frame just with different decals. The suburbans had fenders on them with full chrome 10 Speed Dr. train parts but they had grandpa cruiser style handlebars.

The varsity has the same drivetrain, but might’ve actually had turned down (drop) road bike handlebars at one time.

Three of these have the same frame in the large size whatever that was with the tall head tube, which appears to be what you have right there

  2. I remember the Continentals in the show rooms. When I was riding a Stingray, I drooled on them till I had to decide between the Continent or a Peugeot, I bought the Peugeot.

  3. I just finished restoring a 74 Continental that was my wife’s as a teen. Paint wasn’t as nice as your’s though, had to do an Earl Scheib on it.

  4. Nifty! My first big boy bike that replaced my copper color 2-speed Stingray was a burgundy 1972 Continental. Loved the color.
