  1. That tyre is almost life extinct, I would invest into a new one.

Hats off to the patchwork though.

  2. Looks fine. I’d probably run that as a rear tire since a rear blow out is a lot less problematic than a front one.

  3. Full story:

I’ll admit, I can get upset with motorists who put cyclist in danger. I probably over react sometimes and this is my karma.

I was biking to a shop. At a red light, this guy in a truck did a burnout when it turned green. I thought nothing of it. I got to the shop I was going to and as I was locking up my bike, there was a truck in the bike lane. I eyed the car but honestly didn’t think to much of it as it was raining and I just wanted to get out of the rain.

After waiting in the bike lane for a minute, the dude eventually pulls into a loading only spot right next to me. He gets out and asks me what the problem was. I was genuinely confused. He said “I didn’t mean to scare you with the burnout” I didn’t even realize it was the same guy. I told him he didn’t scare me. Then he asked “why were you starting at me?” I told him that we were all good and that I was leaving, but he kept asking me what my problem was. I asked him to leave me alone several times but after he kept pestering me I said “I guess I was seeing if you were going to park in the bike lane.” He said he would never do that. I pointed out that he was parked in a loading zone, which I shouldn’t have said but this dude was pressing my buttons.

He then asks me why everyone in town is “like this”. I told him it was maybe because he doesn’t leave people alone when they ask him too. He said he meant how people are entitled and think they own everything and can boss people around. I thought this was pretty rich as the guy was parked in a loading only zone to go to the corner store for whatever he was getting but I kept my mouth shut. He eventually walked away while hurling insults at me. I told him he sucked and went into the shop I was going to, different than the one he went into. I came out 30 minutes later to find my tire slashed.

I filed a police report, but doubt anything will come of it. Trying to get ahold of any security footage in the area. It’s whatever though, like I said, this is probably just my karma for yelling at drivers that put my life in danger. I think it’s best to just ignore them and watch out for yourself.

TLDR: Guy and I had a minor argument, he slashed my tire.

  4. An emergency technique is too line the inside with an empty toothpaste tube.

Itl stop the tube from bursting out

  5. Nice stitching! I did [this patch job](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/s/cNU70Ldo2D) after slicing a tire while on a group ride. Not as neat as yours but I was on the side of a highway, so alas I shall cut myself some slack. I reinforced it with a dollar bill on the inside as well. It held up another 10 miles but I replaced the tire thereafter

  6. Those stitches look like a doctor did them.
However, the patient is on borrowed time. Might have to lay him to rest in short order.
    Good luck.

I used to get my tires from bike shop dumpsters. I had no money to buy new ones. I figured out as a kid that I could patch a tear with glue and cereal box paper. The damn things lasted pretty good! Now I get too many tires and tubes from co op shops. I still have a scarcity mind set around bike stuff.
