Did a rebuild on this ‘84 Stumpjumper. A little backstory, picked this up during Covid, the customer brought it in as it was his father and no longer wanted it. After cleaning it up originally years ago come to find out it had a sticker from the shop I currently own on it so it was purchased from who owned the shop at the time 40 years ago so it’s cool to have it back at the shop. The parts originally on the bike were in great shape, but I acquired an ‘83 stumpy that was too small for me so stripped those parts off and sold the frame. Cleaned those parts up and installed them here as I thought they were more “valuable” so build list is as follows:
Suntour LeTech Derailleurs
Suntour Power Shifters
Shimano M700 Brakes
Specialized Flag Crankset
Suntour Beartrap Pedals
Specialized Headset
Specialized Slingshot Stem
Specialized X1 Handlebars
Specialized Hubs laced to Saturne Rims
House of Looptail Snake Belly Tires
Advocet Touring II Saddle

What year did those bikes get made by Toyo?
Gorgeous. Out of curiosity, how wide are the bars? I’m kinda obsessed with 1st gen mtb right now
The biplane fork crown is a nice touch!
Love those Shimano M700 cantilever brakes, they’re my favorites cantilever design. Also a big fan of the Specialized hubs from that era, very nice fit and finish.
Huge fan of the suntour power shifters
