  1. Did you remove this with a screwdriver + hammer? Those marks there make it look like you did…

    (Which, if you did, is why one shouldn’t use a screwdriver.)

    Since that’s aluminum I’d use a razor blade to scrape/cut it away, then very lightly brush it with sandpaper to remove any remaining burrs, then put the new one in.

    It’ll be fine.

    But take this as caution to use appropriate tools for removing and — even if it’s a threaded rod + washers — for installing.

    Sand it smooth, make sure the head tube doesn’t need facing (face it if it needs it) and install new headset.

  3. Don’t do anything to it, press in the new cup.

    That’ll move as you put in the new cup, anything you do to try and clean that up, that isn’t using a proper headtube reamer, risks putting the headtube out of round.
