I can’t find anything on the bike to identify a manufacturing year, any ideas ?
I bought it off eBay for what I think is a good price, It rides ok, 3 gears seems enough for my journeys , lights work , only thing I would like is to swap that gear changer to a thumb push, is that doable ? In the UK

I think is pre 2004, so 300/400£ imo
it looks really good for being early 2000’s or even early 2020’s.
You can send the frame serial number to Brompton support and they will tell you. O did it with mine and it turned out to be from 2011. I think this one is older by looking at the components but I’m far from an expert.
Edit: I actually like that gear changer more than the plastic one mine came with. I was seriously considering getting one of those but I’m not sure whether they are interchangeable; if you find out, please, let me know.
3 speed Sturmey introduced in 2005, and dual pivot brakes in 2007 so between those two.
The serial number seems to show it was made in early 1998, according to the table in the David Henshaw book on Bromptons. Serial numbers 140500-147999 were made between August 1997 and December 1998.
I used to have a Bromp that was a full 10 years older than this, and was practically identical. Apart from being red. I liked the old fashioned Sturmey Archer gear changer! Don’t change it, it’s great! I’d buy this one if I saw it for sale at a good price. Old enough to use occasionally, but not old enough to be kept as a museum piece. The perfect sweet spot. I’m jealous!
