I cannot use the retainers anymore so I decided to go loose ball. I searched on Google for my Huffy Nel Lusso 26 " (idk if the wheel size matters) and it said to go from 9 bbs with a retainer to 11 without. I have 11 in the photo but there seems to be more space, do I add more?

Yes. Think standard practice is “fill the race with bearings then remove one”.
Yes
11 is the average for the average 3 piece bottom bracket, but you have a 1 piece crank bottom bracket with cups that are pressed into the frame. Your bottom bracket is a larger diameter than average. Jam pack it without any popping out of line, then remove 1.
Yes, you need to fill it up, and then take one out. It works really well for races that have a little wear, it really helps smooth out your ride.
Large bb bearings, n= as many as fit
Small headset bearings, n-1
Loose balls you say? So commando style with no underwear? I don’t know about that
Thanks everyone I was able to reinstall my crank with no issues although it was very tedious because of the loose balls.
