Hey team. For some context, I’m the bike shop manager at a small-ish town community bike shop in the Northeast. Among the many things we do, one of our main jobs is refurbishing bikes for sale. We generally price them at around 60% of market value to keep cool bikes accessible to as many people as possible.
Every now and then, though, I get the time and space to do a fun build. I’m no expert, but when this GT came in, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it.
A bit more context: while we do sell some new parts (mostly consumables), all of our drivetrain components are used. Because of that, we’re usually not able to achieve perfect brand or group homogeneity. This build reflects that reality.
The setup is:
Micronew R7 brifters
-Shimano Claris rear derailleur
-Shimano Acera X front derailleur
-Shimano Deore rear cantilever brakes
-Shimano STX front cantilever brake
-Shimano Altus front hub
-Shimano Acera X rear hub
-Shimano Hyperdrive-C Acera crankset
Oh. Front brake cable stay was machined by a community member for the own bike project. They donated it to us and I think it looks pretty sick on this build.
Everything else is pretty generic.
The bike’s too small for me, but everyone who’s ridden it says it’s a blast. Feedback is welcome—just, you know, don’t be a dock.
I’m also curious what you might expect to pay if you saw this bike on Marketplace or somewhere. Cheers.

I sold my full sus 1x dropbar 1994 Stumpjumper for $350 three yrs ago.
New Microshift AdventX drivetrain and shifters, Salsa Cowchipper bars, Velo Orange Happy Stem, Suntour fork, Wheelsmith (I think) wheelset, Smoke and Dart tires. Rest are Amazon no name parts. Only the frame and seatpost were original.
