Got this second hand road bike, good condition, and ive road around to some places already using this bike.
Im pretty new to the bike touring scene and ive been planning a bike touring trip to europe in a few years. At first i planned to just use this bike to build endurance and later buy a better bike but im just wondering if i would still be able to use this current bike.

One issue is the frame for the back wheel doesnt have any eyelits to install a pannier rack so it might be harder considering i probably need an adapter,
Another issue is im scared the wheels will be too thin.

But overall the bike works well im just unsure if i should take this bike with me when i go bike touring. Any thoughts?

  1. May be fun on short bikepacking trips that stay mostly on-road. But likely not a great selection for touring without rack mounts.

  2. You can tour on anything. Is it ideal? No. Could you get away with it? Let us know how it goes.

My preference it to do bikepacking:

You will need a seat bag:

    and a handlebar bag:

( This is not a bikepacking bag but it will not pinch your cables and I haven’t found a better way to deal with this problem. )

This is more fun than traditional loaded touring. If you don’t want to do this then you can get a rack for the rear:

You will need some panniers. I recommend Ortlieb:

And a bar bag. This one is pretty good:
