TIL that the bikes from the tour site Backroads.com is something that you buy from them as part of the tour. These are Ti bikes and on paper the specs look good. Any thoughts on these?
No way to tell because they give no specs on the frame itself and even bad titanium frames exist. They don’t even give a frame weight which I would think would be important for an application like this. Or maybe not for those customers.

I’ve seen some Backroads bikes pop up on Craigslist. The frames were made by Van Nicholas in the Netherlands.
For example, the current road performance bike on the Backroads site looks like it could be the Van Nicholas Zephyr endurance road bike.

I’m a little unclear on what you’re asking? As far as I know, Backroads rents the bikes to guests and for the tours they offer, they’re adequate. Nobody is required to buy one as part of the tour packages and if you wanted to buy one from Backroads, I imagine they would sell you one.

Looks like the road bike is made by Van Nicholas.
