does something like the Odyssey LaGuardia exist for MTB? I worry about smacking my chainring into a rock coming down the trails in Phoenix and tweaking it but I don't have that concern on my BMX bike. I can't really seem to find anything comparable and was wondering if it even exists.

SRAM do bash protectors that bolt on their chain rings.

A quick google turned up a couple of other options for other chain rings. You need to find one that matches your chain ring so they mount correctly.
OR you buy a bash guard that bolts onto the frame. Most MTB frames come with mount points for these and there and many options available.
