  1. I’ve only had the bike about 13 months now and 4 of those months I wasn’t able to ride. The rear tire seems near shot but the injection ‘nub’ things haven’t worn off yet

edit. Tire is a Riddler 37×700 Stock tire on a Cannondale Topstone 1

    95+ % road use

Rear tire wears faster than front tire because there’s more weight on the back. Especially true if you use rear panniers.

I’d call that normal wear, the back tire wears faster on gravel.

I switch them when they get like this, go for a few more hundred miles then get two new ones

  4. i had the same tire. Very light but got workn out so fast. I startedhaving lots of flats cuz so thing. Change it for soemthing with more beef.

  5. this is normal tire wear but Id say you are running too high of a pressure which is adding to it. Check out Silcas tire pressure calculator and adjust your pressure. You will be pleased with the results.

I usually move the front tire to the back and get a new one for the front.

  7. For your use case maybe consider Specialized Pathfinder Pro’s, they come in 42mm and have a slick centre with some smaller threads on the sides. I have been running them on mixed terrain for a while and seem to be holding up well.

First thing I replaced on my topstone. I burnt through my back one in a couple months. I switched to schwalbe g one rx and have been super happy with the grip and longevity

Since you ride on the road mostly, I would replace the rear tire with a road or hybrid tire (smooth center) – ride mixed setup til the front is worn, then toss on either matching road/hybrid up front or continue with mixed setup if you like it.

An example of a nice mixed setup: pirelli cinturato gravel RH in back, gravel H up front.

That current back tire has a lot more life left though.

As normal as it gets, same with motorcycles. That’s why I prefer a dual compound tire, harder in the center softer on the sides for grip when cornering.

  11. Yah get a good gravel tire without the little knobbies. My WTBs wore out in like a thousand miles but my Pirellis are at 1500 and got prolly another 1500 to go!
