Recently I bought a frameset and it came with this suspicious chainring. I’m curious about if is safe to use. The tooth of the chainring are very thin and I’ve tried to search if is safe to ride but I can’t find anything.
Oh yeah def…. no way a new chain will sit on that ring properly. Makes me wonder why the seller left it on if they were just selling a frameset lol

I’d be wary of buying any bike that has seen so little attention to maintenance.

I would shun that chainring

It’s that badly worn I don’t think it qualifies to be called a chainring anymore now it’s just waiting to be a coke can.
It was toast some time ago

Wow, that’s the most obvious example of a worn-out chainring I think I’ve ever seen.
If that’s a 2x replace both chainrings, and if that one is that worn out then replace the chain and the cassette too, and very possibly the derailleur pulleys.
Hell, when you pull the crankset off to replace that, turn the bottom bracket bearings with your fingers feeling for any roughness or excessive resistance, you might need to replace that, too.
Just amazes me how decrepit some people let their bikes get.
