I'm new to bike wrenching. I bought a used Ultegra R8000 crankset (I will get new single speed narrow wide chain rings for it) to fit to my folding bike but I realised the Ultegra spindle is too short at around 106mm compared to the one I took off my bike at 120mm.

The width of the spindle appears to be correct and the crank arms are swappable as well (same teeth). Sorry if I got some of the terminology wrong.

What are my options here?

  1. Unfortunately your options are limited to either buying the correct chainset or if your existing one is still in good condition new chainrings to fit it.

There are Cranks Only für 68mm bottom bracket. If you got a 73mm you Need a 120mm Spindel crankset.

MTB axles and Road axles are different lengths, your original cranks are probably MTB length axle. Fit a road BB and assuming you’ve got a 68mm shell all will be well. Shimano Road cranks cannot be fitted to a bike with a 73mm shell
