There is a used bike I'm planning to get because the components are pretty good. So the plan was to get rid of the broken frame and put everything else on a nice one. But I've been told that this part can be weld (steel frame ofc).
Do you think it could be good ? Even if this is done well I'm a bit afraid to ride a bike with a broken "core" especially here, where there is my weight on it.
Just in case it's not clear it is located at the front of the seat clamp (+ the seat tube has some impacts aswell

Is that fake carbon fiber over steel ?
If that is what it looks like, I have deep reservations that a steel frame with fake carbon fiber stickers over it is going to be of a quality that’s worth saving, weldable or not. The state of the seatpost and clamp in the picture also doesn’t indicate this bike has lived a very easy life.
Steel has a lifespan, caused by microscopic cracks caused by repeated flexing
If the frame already had considerable use replace it
I won’t buy a bike with a broken frame. That’s my opinion.
Can it be done? Usually, yes.
Should it be done? Rarely.
Is it cost effective? Almost never.
