Looking to get into road biking (currently mostly mountain bike). What do folks think of this listing? Good deal? Worth looking for something with newer components?
Full specs from the listing:
– This bike is in amazing shape. It's been my baby for a few years and I have always treated it gently. Everything works beautifully and is perfectly dialed in – shifting brakes etc.
– The size is perfect for someone between 6’ and 6’4”
– Maximum tire clearance 28mm
– total weight (as shown in pictures): 18.8lbs
– It has a few minor scuffs which you can see in the pictures
– I built it on a Lynskey Ti frame and with a complete Shimano Ultegra group.
– It's time to downsize so I am (reluctantly) letting it go.
Here are the components:
– Lynskey Titanium frame with Lynskey Carbon fork; XL size; seat tube: 56cm (originally $1600)
– Easton EA 90 SLX wheels (originally $750)
– Complete Shimano Ultegra 11-speed group; 11-32 cassette; 36/52 chainrings; (originally $1150)
– Cannondale SAVE seat post (this has a very slight built-in flex) (originally $220)
– Terry Fly Carbon seat – it's the best, I'd never use any other (originally $160)
– Shimano Ultegra pedals (originally $110)
– Continental Grand Prix 5000 700c x28 tires using tube setup; in great shape (originally $150)
– Jenson Carbon handlebar (originally $130)
– Titanium bottle cages

Good deal for a Ti bike. I have a couple of them, they are my favorites for long rides.
Not a bad deal, but also not amazing. These are about what they kind of go for here in the west coast at least. These lynsky titaniums are very solid ti frames. The components are pretty nice, good tire choice, in fact, probably some of the best clincher tires you can get. 28mm would be about the max tire clearance for this frame, which is decent for road riding. Looks like they upgraded the rear derailleur to a long cage ultegra R8000 with the shadow derailleur cage. The wheels are pretty decent too, pretty lightweight alloy wheels. 18.8lbs is a very competitive weight for a titanium bike, in fact that’s about the weight of most entry level carbon bikes nowadays.
It looks like a nice bike, but I’d want newer components and more tire clearance for that kind of money. You could have a brand new bike with 105 and more tire clearance for around $2k. I think this one is really more a matter of if you are in love with that frame (which I totally understand if you are).
That’s a proper asking price for a reasonable person who expects not to get the full amount 😂 offer $1100 and see what happens.
I’d say closer to $1000-1200, most the value is the frame but it is an older rim brake frame with older components. that said I still ride a 2007 Litespeed and wouldn’t change it so I would recommend it for the right price
Overpriced. $1k max
