  1. Been on the paid version for a few years until they introduced the AI bullshit. I was happy to support a product I am using. But the AI thing was gratuitous and shoehorned. That was the point when I felt the time has come to pull the plug.

I very much doubt “AI summaries” was that high on their users’ feature requests. But they still felt they have to justify their price somehow and I guess that was a low hanging fruit.

At the same time, the mobile app is trash in terms of functionality, yet, when I log on to the website from my phone to do what I can’t do from the app, they are happy to recommend the app. No shit, Sherlock, why do you think I am on the web?

But I guess shoving AI everywhere shines brighter in the eyes of the shareholders than actually working on features.

Since being back on the free tier I no longer have AI. Which is great! And from the looks of things, the benefits of not paying just keep adding up.

At this point I would gladly switch to another centralised app if it were available, but I’m on two ecosystems (Suunto and Wahoo) so Strava collects the stats from both. Maybe I should look again at what platforms those two have in common.

Between the random Garmin chaos and the ongoing price increases, I’m letting my annual premium membership expire. It’s not my job to pay for unnecessary AI infrastructure. They can explain it to the shareholders.
