Bonjour, and welcome back to my channel. My
name is Gabi, and I’ve been living in the Languedoc region in France for almost a year now.
I can’t believe how quickly this time passed! So, if you are dreaming about a new place to
call home, this video might just inspire you, because today I’m sharing five top
reasons why I love living in this region. So let’s dive in. First up: The natural beauty here is
unreal. It’s like a postcard come to life! You’ve got golden beaches, rolling
vineyards, gorgeous rivers and cannas, and rugged mountains. Everywhere you go
it’s absolutely stunning and I never get bored of it. The French takes such
great care of their environment. Everything feels perfectly maintained.
Driving through the countryside, you will see tree line roads that
look like they are straight out of a painting. I don’t know how they do
it. They must have an army of gardeners. Number two is history and culture. Every single
village and town has its own historic center, and they are so well preserved. You can wander through
fairytale like villages, explore ancient castles or Roman ruins. Each place has its own story
brought to life by vibrant markets and festivals. The French government does an amazing
job protecting these historic centers, keeping their old world charm. If you own a house in France, and you want
to make any changes on it from the outside, first you have to ask permission from
the mairie, which is basically the local government office. And they do that because
they want to preserve the style of all these historic centers. And I think it’s pretty
amazing, because it’s like, um, I don’t know. It’s like living in a history
book. It’s pretty amazing.. Next, let’s talk about food and
wine. Languedoc is a foody paradise. Groceries in markets and supermarkets
are quite pricey, and in all honesty it’s a bit of a shock, but eating out
can be a steal if you time it right. Many, many villages in the area offer amazing
quality three course lunches. Quite often with a glass of wine for about 20 euro. We’ve
been told by the locals that this is thanks to a government scheme called Worksmen Lunches,
where the government pays 10 euro per meal to the restaurant to support the local restaurants and
encourage workers to enjoy their lunch breaks. And yes, it is perfectly okay here
to have a glass of wine during lunch breaks. After living in London for 15 years,
where I worked very, very long hours and ate at my desk this slower pace of life was a
bit of a shock for me first, but honestly, I think the French are right! At the end of the
day, you work to leave and not leave to work. The wines here are incredible and affordable too. You can grab a delicious local bottle in
supermarkets for as little as five euro. If you were not a wine fan before l
Languedoc might just change your mind. Number four: the lifestyle here is
so relaxed. People here take time to enjoy life in everything they do. Could
those be just strolling through markets or meeting up with friends or taking long
lunch break. It is just amazing to watch. Almost every weekend there is a local fair in
a nearby villages with live music, great food, dancing, and tons of entertainment
for kids, which I absolutely love. When we moved here, I was worried about fitting
in specifically because I don’t speak French yet. But honestly, the community here has
been so warm and welcoming. In our village everybody smiles at you,
and everybody say Bonjour, and it just make you feel so relaxed
and welcomed really. This is a place that you just feel accepted from day one,
and it just made our move so much easier. And lastly, affordable housing. Languedoc is a steal for both buyers and renters
compared to Paris or a French riviera. For example, you can rent a three bedroom house or
apartment for less than a thousand euro per month, and you can buy the same house or
apartment for about 200,000 euro. So, amongst other things, those are the five
main reasons why I love living in this area. Sure, there are things that, could improve and I
will be making a video about those as well, but all in all, I think
life here is pretty amazing. Drop a comment and tell me what do you
want to see next? Do you want to hear more tips about living in France or you want to see
beautiful places around the area where we live? But for now, if you like this video, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe,
and see you in the next video, au revoir.

Bienvenue en France ❤
Hi Gabby, thank you for this video. I live in Canada. I'm a senior. I've been looking to split my time between Canada & Europe. Been mostly looking at the south of France. I'm looking for a place that has history, beautiful buildings, a lot of trees and fresh foods, and not far from water. I'm just wandering how walkable is Languedoc for someone who is older? There seems to be a lot hills in Languedoc. Is it like that all over? is there a good city transportation and train to other cities? I know it's a lot of questions.
What is your origin please ? You have a little accent of the east… Maybe. 👋
Which city/commune do you guys have chosen to live?
its a beautiful video and yes Languedoc is so stunning…had not idea
please show us the restaurants the markets what you are cooking at home using the fresh food you buy from the markets
the places you visit on the weekends
maybe some french recipes or hungarian
For foreigners who move to France it is all benefit: everything is cheaper and « Sécurité sociale »reimburses medical care!
I’m curious about which village you live in, whether you are close to a big city & whether one can be car-free there.
Do NOT move to France, do NOT invade us.
JEEZ old people still doing that silly thing with their hands
Awfool acscent
Please note my last name. I live in the USA but have recently considering buying an inexpensive home in a small rural village. My preference is to live in the area where my family bloodline may be concentrated. Thank you
Freckle is so lovable
I am convinced.
Never get bored with it.
I am from there. Languedoc is a hidden treasure of France, the beauty without the hype. The unique warmth of the Mediterranean light, most sublimed at dusk, the small roads, the historical heritage, the abbeys, the churches, the little villages all over the place, the canyons in the back country, the large beaches. Béziers is one of the oldest French towns, in the process of being beautifully restored, Narbonne was a favored retreat for Roman dignitaries, Via Domitia can still be seen right downtown. Pézenas is one of the most stunning preserved villages. A prosperous valley between the sea and the mountains, blessed by the gods. Go visit, you will not regret it.
Can I ask where (which country) you moved from please? Thanks
Thank you
Thank you
Why can't YOU just LIVE YOUR LIFE ? You are NOT SPECIAL !! why do you need attention? People are getting sick of YUPPIE YOUTUBERS ,,shut up!
I am French. I disagree with this video. This person, who obviously knows very little about the rest of France, only sees what first meets the eye. She completely ignores the very major flaws of this particular region. First, people in Languedoc are not particularly friendly compared to other regions of France. Second crime rate is among the highest in France and the immigrant population is totally out of control (there is of course on obvious cause-and-effect relationship here). Third this is not the cheapest region of France and its capital Montpellier is among the least affordable cities in France. Fourth, Languedoc has one of the highest unemployment rates in France. Good luck to find any kind of job if you come to France. Based on this, I would certainly not recommend picking Languedoc Roussillon as a prime destination in France.
Very nice video, we also live in the area!
I was distracted by your beautiful staircase railing, did that come with your house, where can i find that? 😊
Could not agree more. We are moving to Perpignan for all the reasons you discussed.
I dont like this video. bla bla. bla bla bla. where is the information? location? any beach? 200,000eur gives you an apartment right in the center of Trieste Italy. I suspect this is a village very far from the beach. In comparison, stone houses in Tuscany are just 59,000eur
I’m up near Rodez, and it gets pretty hot here, and I know it gets super hot where you are. That might put people off. Having said that, you’re next to the sea which helps.
You should go to watch Béziers rugby at the stade, it’s a big insight into French culture.
Do they have Les Halles in Béziers? Always worth a visit if so. Les Halles at Sete is superb.
