My technical skills were not good enough to keep up with a former cyclo-cross pro, slid out in a corner and impaled my hand on a branch. At least the emergency room staff let me keep the stick as a fun souvenir. No other injuries at all, apart from my glove which now has a hole I need to sew.
1/10 would not recommend.

Guess the trail really wanted to stick it to you
Jesus! I was on a night ride with a group once and a guy wiped out on a turn with loose gravel. Ended up dislocating his elbow. Idk which I’d rather experience; impaling my hand with a stick or dislocating an elbow lol
For a minute, I thought you’d pulled the stick out of your hand yourself.
This is exactly what would happen to me on a night ride. Thank you for reaffirming my unwillingness to ride at night. I find that every shadow tricks my mind.
Oh my gooooooodness that is gnarly.
Hope you are okay and can ride again soon.
Another reason I wear gloves: minimize the risk of sudden hand impalement.
Curious if you were wearing gloves. I feel like that could have deflected it.
All the cool kids aren’t wearing gloves these days and I always wince.
My BIL used to say, “If you’re not bleeding, you’re not having fun!”

Love all those fenders and buddy flaps…civilized. We don’t have to have mud butts or blind the group with spray. Won’t help with the impaled hand mate hope your recovery goes well.
🤢
Hope it heals quick!
Hopefully you got your tetanus shots…
Your new nickname should be Finn the Human.
Hey, that’s not supposed to be in there.
groot, is that you?
I did not want to see that. Why did I swipe to the next picture.
Is the bike okay tho…
Night riding is great. Group rides suck.
Guess the nsfw tag is for the ugly mudguards
You’re chosen as the new guardian of the Green.
Ouch!
New fear unlocked 🤯
As an 80s kid who built sketchy ramps and crashed nonstop, I can confirm: a stick in the hand is still a good time.

Technically a splinter.
My Paramedic-Me would still consider this entertaining! 😉
Get well quick and rubber side down!
