I have 20 yr old Shimano 105s on a Trek AL frame and they are still smooth as silk: rim brakes, shifters, hubs, front + rear derailleurs.

Nope.
I bought a pretty similar bike (different brand) for 600 bucks a couple of years ago.
It is newer than this, has an 11 speed 105 and was barely used.
That’s an SL4, more than 10 years old, not worth anywhere near 1k$…
