Just checking, is this 2023 Aspero 5 future proof? Is it really a Aspero 5 as I was told 5 should have fully integrated cable? Is Ekar a good group last for 40% light gravel and 60% road? Would appreciate any thoughts on whether this is good deal. Thanks.

My 5 has integrated cables so take that for what it’s worth…
Completely irrelevant, all modern bikes have evolved into motorcycles for some reason
There are steel bikes from the 90s that, with a few tweaks, are still relevant today.
Yes. It has standard thru axles, brake mounts and headset parts. Not being internal cables IMO is a plus as they are easier to maintain and travel with. The geo is fine.
About the big limiter is a bit smaller tire clearance than the current trends.
The first gen Aspero 5 is fully integrated unless it is this particular build. The ekar builds all still have the shift cable not run through the headset. Pretty sure there just isn’t room for a third cable to be run fully internally. For what it’s worth I’ve got a first gen Aspero (non 5) and it’s great. Nothing about the bike makes it irrelevant.
I think I would hate to see the day when a bike that nice and expensive becomes irrelevant ☹️
I have been riding Ekar for the last 5k miles and absolutely love it (other than finding parts).
