Hey all, I sold some old bikes and bits and bobs recently and wanted to reinvest this back into the couple of bikes I kept. Any recommendations on what to upgrade on my surly commuter? I'm going to recable over the holidays with some nice purple outer otherwose open to all suggestions, sensible and frivolous. And yes, I need to straighten out my seat. Thanks!

Dynamo hub and lighting
Do you not ride in the rain? Cuz fenders would be a must for me!

Fenders and locking skewers if it’s a commuter you lock up and leave.
someone else mentioned it, but dynamo system is key. then i’d suggest getting a comfier saddle (if this one’s not working) like, say, a berthoud aspin. then maybe some bs from paul comp for fun? idk bc your bike looks good otherwise 🙂
I would go nicer crankset tbh. Like an old mtb or road crank and a cool chainring like medium strisland or wolftooth
Switch from front basket to rear pannier rack
Replace that perfectly nice basket with a milk crate
I’m a sucker for some nice hydraulic brakes. Also, you might experiment with moving your brake levers inboard a bit, so you can enjoy 1 finger braking.
Things that you’re dissatisfied with that could be significantly better. What’s wrong with it?
