Why police don’t chase every e-scooter on the road?
I had a chat about this recently — the truth is, there are now so many scooters on the streets that it’s nearly impossible for police to stop everyone. They simply don’t have the time or resources to chase every single rider, especially when they’re focusing on more serious crimes and public safety issues.
Police might occasionally stop someone if they're riding dangerously, causing trouble, or if they’re doing something illegal besides just riding. But for the most part, they leave scooter riders alone, especially when we're being careful, respectful, and just using them to get from A to B.
That’s the reality — thousands of us ride daily, and we’re not doing harm. It’s becoming a normal thing.
When Will E-Scooters Be Legal?
The UK government plans to create new laws to legalise private e-scooters, but progress has been slow.
In 2022, the government said they would create a new vehicle category for e-scooters.
As of mid-2025, no law has been passed yet.
Legalisation may happen by 2026, depending on the new transport bill and political changes.
The time to crack down was when the government made them illegal not many years later after countless injuries and lost vehicle tax revenue, not to mention all these offenders have been allowed to drive motorised vehicles unhindered on our streets for years.
I use a 200 pound scooter and I don't drive, I use it every day to get to work, even if you guys nicked one off me monthly it's still a major savings for me to keep using them 😊
The law is completely stupid. I have a full motorbike license and I own a sports bike that can go over 140mph. But I cannot legally drive one of these unless it has a 250W or less motor, simply because I can't get them insured because no company will insure it?
This country is completely broken. We NEED cheap transport options. They need to be regulated properly. Criminalising the public with BS laws and tarring us law abiding citizens with the bad riders is why nothing good ever happens here.
England, London Europe has this problem, people in that country don't fight for their Rights and belongings.. they let the police and government run them over!! i live in the USA We don't have that problem we know our rights and we fight for our rights as human beings!! sorry for you guys over there, i would move out of there if u want to have fun!!
Yeh coppers acting like billy big baws catching 99% normalfolk NOT I repeat NOT the little fannies acting like ficks and thieving stuff.. so we'll done fur fuck all so it looks goods in the papers
Fair enought to take them off young idiots riding crazy, but I'm 65 and have difficulty walking, so I use an e-scooter. I obey red lights, give way at junctions and don't ride on pavements (unless they're shared paths).
I got caught last week they alleged i was doing over 40mph but my max speed is 38mph so i played along and put it into slow setting max speed 12mph. Them clowns dont have clue

I need photo ID to use the Internet but not to run people down on the pavement
They have scooters in Russia with no problems.
Bro this is another reason police are disliked crashing out over a bike going 20mph

i can go over 20mph on a pedal bike , why is it illegal to go over 15 with an electric.

Why are these great mods of transport banned..
Are we going to ban driving next since it kills many people each year?????
But we have scooters and bikes we can hire

The government: “we need to lower our emissions and use electric vehicles”
Also the government…
Wow! There's so much stoopid here! 😂

I'm glad i don't live in the UK 😂
Fuck those laws bro 😭💀
The official police doing short edits with music is actually pretty funny I love it 😂😂
If 99% of these bikes are illegal, maybe its time to change the law, not take 99% of cheap efficient green transport ebike off the road..
I smell bacon
come on
Well done you bunch of fannies.
Massive government overreach. Don't alotve these have pedals aswell btw? I thought that's what makes them legal?
They should be crushed
You should be fighting the guys on surrons stealing phones not delivery drivers on electric scooters😂
Get the rubbish off the streets
