I wish I had a helmet mounted camera and some editing skills to put together some kind of montage of how many times this has caused me to emergency stop, almost hit somebody, or be forced to turn a U-turn into a 3-point turn. It really makes the bike feel a lot less nimble, and makes me regret not getting a P Line instead. Despite how incredibly comfy riding the G Line is in my city!
G Line nitpick time – why can't I steer hard to the right?

I expected to see a video of you mildly annoyed by the cables on the right hand side bending/binding. I’ve never seen the headset jam like this. Maybe races or bearings are bad. I’d replace them entirely as an excuse to get in there to see why it is doing that.
looks like cable is a bit too tight? did u change anything to the bike like wider/taller handlebar etc ?
Got my G line this week and I noticed this immediately as well. I assumed it was a choice Brompton had made – presumably some limitation of the frame/folding mechanism – but based on these comments now I’m not so sure… I’ll take my bike to the Covent Garden store this week and see what they say about it
Mines the same, so it must be a limit by design, but Christ it’s annoying. Usually don’t notice it when riding but as you say it makes it a shit to manoeuvre around corners off the bike.
How tight is that headset???
Also, there’s a physical stop. Why do you care though, I can’t think of a single time I’ve hit that stop on mine
There’s a physical stop on the steerer tube. It stops the wheel from over-rotating during the fold and allows it to fold without smashing off the hook on the fork.
It is by design and it doesn’t affect it when ridden
