I recently bought myself a touring bike. I went for the Bombtrack Arise Tour and I'm really pleased with the simplicity of it, for when repairs invariably come along in long rides.
I decided to christen it with a short overnighter in the Hajar Mountains of the UAE a couple of weekends ago and it rides so well. Steel is real as they say and despite the increased weight from my carbon road bike, it was such a comfortable pleasure to ride. So far I've only been able to strap my Topeka Bikepacking minimal bags to it, but I've been reliably informed that Santa is bringing me 2 xOrtlieb Back-Rollers, 2 x Ortlieb Sport-Rollers and 1 x Ortlieb Rack-Pack to enable me to plan some bigger and bolder rides!
I currently work in Saudi Arabia but finishing within a year or so and quite seriously considering cycling to my home in Italy (currently buying one now) or possibly back to the UK where I'm from.
I don't have cooking equipment yet as my Bikepacking was minimal, a tent on occasion but always food at a cafe for breakfast – so this will be another step up! If anybody has any information on preferred lightweight and reliable cooking equipment I'd love to hear it.
Anyway, here is a short video showing the Bombtrack on the UAE Mountains.

TIL the UAE has mountains. That looks like really nice riding.
