Was assembling a bike I got from upway, it’s got a quick release front wheel with a disc brake. I was trying to fit the disc brake in the caliper and it wasn’t going into place. This thing fell off with a click and then everything fit into place. Seems like my breaks work okay. Anybody know if this is okay?

Brake block to stop actuation of an unpadded disk brake system
You were supposed to pull that out before assembly. It’s a spacer that should be installed between the brake pads aby time the wheel is off and removed for assembly.
Yup needs to be removed to fit the wheel on. Save it though and stick it back in the brakes when you take the wheel off; it’s there to keep you from locking the brakes closed when there isn’t a caliper between the pads.
That was between the brake pads to prevent the pads from getting pushed out without the rotor between them. I would strongly check to see if your brake is rubbing.
Keep it around
