Done this a few times myself when wrapping the cable the opposite way round the mounting peg doesn’t quite give enough of a ratio change. Works like a charm 👍

Somebody has to tell Path Less Pedalled Russ about this, as he is currently on a front dérailleur hack fest.
But yeah, at least with the older FDs, the road FD is about 16mm anchor to pivot and the MTB is 25mm anchor to pivot… so 8-9mm closer is a workable mod if there’s a place to safely drill. I’d file any sharp edges smooth to prolong cable life.

One of my favorite mods.. I’ve only seen[ one other person](https://www.mtbr.com/threads/successful-front-der-mod-for-mtb-front-der-w-sti-road-levers.933644/) do this online.
