    Polished/chrome fixed gear wheelset – help choosing rims & hubs (EU/Poland)


    Hi everyone,
    I’m based in Poland and planning to build a fixed gear wheelset. The fixed scene here is pretty dead, so local availability of rims and hubs is very limited. I’m mostly ordering from EU shops.

    I want polished / chrome-looking rims to match my frame. These are the rim options I’m considering:

    • Velocity Aileron 700c Polished (Brick Lane Bikes – not sure if they ship to PL)
    • Araya RC-540
    • H Plus Son Archetype
    • H Plus Son TB14 (32H)
    • Rigida DP18 (used, local market)
    • Velocity Deep V

    Once I choose rims, I plan to lace them to one of these hubs:
    Miche / Gran Compe / Mack / Mental

    Riding is mostly street / city, no track racing.

    Which rim + hub combo would you recommend for this kind of build?

      Sorry for not answering your question but I gotta ask, how do you have so many zens?

      I’m from Portugal and I can’t find any for sale besides on the sugino official website.

      I’ve been riding and abusing my archetype 28h/mental wheelset for about 5 years, haven’t really needed any maintenance except changing the cog. I’m based in Latvia, so the weather and road conditions are probably similar to poland.

      Naaaah, you must be kidding me 😅🤣 we are in the same boat my friend (well, I’m not in Poland but the build you’re planning to go with). Sharing my plan with you, I can suggest using H Plus Son SL42 Polished finished laced with black paul hubs, or archetype Polished finished laced with DT Swiss track hubs (in case of light weight rims). Please, please share the results once you get it done. I’ll post mine next month if everything arrives on time. I’m very excited 🤓💯
