Is it me, or do these prices seem a little steep for being +10 years old? BBB lists $428 for the Specialized and $295 for the Fuji. I live in CA so I know things tend to be on the pricier side but that’s a big gap

Also, any recommendations between the two? I plan on riding America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Tahoe next year so it’ll be a long ride (72 miles) with 3900 feet of elevation gain. I currently have a heavy gravel bike so looking for something lighter

  1. Yes they are too high, and no you should not be using BBB as a gauge for used bike prices, not even the slightest in my opinion.. Prices vary regionally, sometimes by quite significantly and BBB themselves sell used bikes, so they have an incentive to value the trade-in value and market value of bikes much lower. Check out the community highlights of this subreddit, the first post is about this very issue. If you’re using BBB as a price gauge to buy an affordable used bike, you’ll rarely ever find a bike with a fair value in your eyes. Sure, there are bikes listed at BBB pricing, but as you notice, this is very rare, even in a competitive market like CA.
