Currently using Smartwool zero cushion socks but even with shoe covers on toes turn in to ice cubes. My feet generally run warm and feel great until they get damp from sweat then they get ice cold and never recover.
Anyone got some recommendations for good winter socks?

Maybe try some ski or snowboarding socks.
Wear 2 layers of socks if you can. Nordic skiing experience, I wear some type of active sock first then a wool sock over it. It’s worked even if the temp is <0F.
Dont over layer, your feet will be compressed and even colder – trust ne I tried it. Get warm shoes with a closed front and possibly a size bigger than your summer shoes and just wear one pair of thick merino socks in them. If your feet really freeze off, look into those single use warming insoles for the few very cold negative Celsius winter rides
Not cheap but heated overshoes exist..
Shoe covers are the answer.
Electric heated socks changed my life on the bike for the better and can do the same for yours too.
Full shoe covers. Like rock brothers and Nordic smartwool cross country ski socks
You aren’t getting circulation in your feet. Happens to me also. Often I have to stop and walk a little.
I wear a silk liner under a wool sock. I put duck tape over the ventilation holes on my cycling shoes.
smartwool is typically thin. get thicker wool.
i’ve been using the amazon merino.tech and really like them.
if shoe covers and thick wool socks aren’t enough… you need boots.
– Merino wool and newspaper around your toes.
– shoe covers.
– You can get heated socks too.
– hot packs for your feet
– wool insole
Combine everything for the warmest feet ever
Wool
I struggled with this for years and the only true fix is proper footwear for cold rides.
The biggest issue is your normal shoes are sized for when you’ve worn thinner socks. You can put on thick socks but now when you stuff them into your shoes the tighter fit restricts blood flow to your feet. Even if you keep the closure a bit looser. Bare minimum you need a set of winter shoes just so you can go a size up appropriately for using thicker socks.
If you need new shoes anyway than you should get some nice winter boots. I had Lake 303 boots but even those weren’t really warm enough below 35⁰F. Now I have Bontrager OMW boots (discontinued unfortunately) for anything below 45⁰. From 45⁰ to 55⁰ I use my summer shoes with covers and some thinner wool socks. 55⁰ and up I use my normal shoes and whatever socks fit the conditions.
I understand that’s definitely the most expensive option but it’s the only one that’s really going to work. If you’re on a budget than just try to keep a loose fit with thick wool socks and top priority needs to be making sure you maintain free blood flow to your feet.
Edit: Heated socks are an option which I haven’t used. They should work well with shoe covers to keep the heat in but you still need to make sure you keep blood flowing to and from your feet.
Dexshell waterproof socks work well
I need to know about that bike. There are very few Propain reviews out there.
If you’re really desperate try plastic bags over socks. Not sexy, but really worked for me. I used clean dog poop bags once.
