I prefer inner barends, but in any case, it depends so much on backsweep, upsweep, width of the handlebars,  your angle, your hand size, the angle of the grips and so on.

In other words, these things are highly individual. Even more so than saddles.

Edit: the “use case” of the different sizes are the size of your hand. And if the right is shorter than the left, it is for a gripshift/twistshift

  2. GP3 for me. Has a more ergonomic main section, which is where you will be having your hands most of the time. But it’s personal preference.

have you even used bar ends before?

  3. Dude it’s totally gonna be personal preference. I have large hands but have found I still like the smaller sized ones based on just personal preference.

  4. I went with the 3 as the 5 felt too large/bulky. As a side note – if you do not have a comfortable main hand position you should focus on that, I changed steers between my last tours (larger backsweep) and man was that a good decision

  5. I have been using the GP2’s for years and I love them. The GP3s are very similar. Personally, I don’t like the tall top grip the GP5s have.

  6. I still rock the 3’s on my cross country mountain bike setup. When I did long races it was nice to have the ends for climbing and changing up my hand position

  7. Personally I would get “inner bar ends” instead. Based on my experience riding wide gravel bars which are still almost certainly narrower than your flat bars, those seem miserable unless you’re wide as a gorilla.
