My new C-line 4-speed showed up today – expected to get it on Monday.

I had the black C-line 6-speed on subscription since March and used it for commute (London, train+bike). Great bike, but I was missing the rear rack – it is virtually impossible to roll, plus it's good to have somewhere to carry a coat taken off when it gets warmer.

I just took the new one out for a quick 4k run – seems to be a little stiffer, but perhaps that's because it's new. I knew I would like the low bar much more as I ride road bikes, defo better here. I am not a fan of the complex 6-12 speed systems, so went with the simple one. Will need to test it more, but for now the gears seem touch too high – I may consider a smaller chainring.

I may also opt for the dynamo later, if I find myself struggling with the batteries – the time will show.

I have checked the real weights of both:

C-line 6-speed 2025, mid-bar and dynamo set – 12.5kg

C-line 4-speed 2025, low bar – 11.35kg (straight out of the box)

+ Magicshine Brompton light set, rear rack, rack straps and Beeline Velo 2 – 12.05kg
