If it’s long enough in order to not change the geometry and otherwise fit in head tube, yes.

  2. Yes there are other forks out there that will work. But, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind.

Make sure to match the axle to crown measurement within 5mm. Longer will raise the front end and slacken the head tube angle slowing steering and make the front wheel flop into corners. Shorter will lower the front end and steepen the headtube angle speeding steering and make the handling twitchy.

Also make sure to match the rake or offset of the fork. Shorter rake will bring the front wheel in closer to the frame increasing toe overlap and make the bike less stable at high speeds. Both longer and shorter will make the handling funky.

I’d try a local shop for a takeoff. Some of my local shops kept all the old 90/2000s forks that customers replaced when buying their bike.

  4. I love the colour of this bike!!
I personally would keep my eye on marketplace for a bicycle and snag the fork. It’s usually cheaper than buying new. But to each their own 🤙
Alternatively, check the parts bin at your local shop!

  5. Depends much on why you hate the fork:
    – too hard/sticky? Elastomers might be through.
    – too little suspension? Elastomers – or Nineties. 😁
    – too insensitive? Lube/service seals/bushings.
    – too springy? Damping cartridge might need service/replacement.
    – too wobbly? Welcome to the nineties – get an AMP.
    – bad looks? Your choice.

Do you want suspension at all?
If yes, just be aware that you should look for no more than 80 mm of travel, better 60ish if you want to keep geometry (angles) close to original.

Depending on what exactly you don’t like about the Quadra 21 (which was one of the better forks of their time, plus lighter than most other options) people will be able to give you better recommendations…

Yes go to your LBS and get modern rigid replacement. It will also lighten up your bike which is always nice. I used to have that bike btw it was fun.
