we’re here at the British national sross championships where some of the best riders in the country are going to compete for the national championships title but we’re not interested in them we’re interested in what bikes they’re riding so let’s go have a look at what we can [Music] find Cam it’s a big day for you you gunning for the win yeah yeah that’s the goal today uh but it’s just another race so give it a good shot and see how we end up yeah and obviously big part of the of uh gunning for the win is the bike okay so talk us through this what’s what’s the frame what are the wheels what’s going on here uh this is my Steven super Prestige been riding them last few years uh we run DT Swiss Wheels uh I ride a 52 which is quite small and I have quite a bit of stack on it but just yeah to get the geometry in the right place for me I run this slightly smaller bike um yeah with DT Swiss Wheels uh challenge tires full Shimano juras uh cell Italia finishing kit up here and then data everything else so yeah there’s not that there’s nothing that special on it it’s quite stock and then the main thing is making sure that it’s the same across all my bikes um and there’s no no differences at all so yeah you mentioned like stock that are there any little custom tweaks that you you have even just in the way you ride it or set it up um not really uh I’ve got 170 cranks but that’s also very stuck a lot of guys ride 170 um I’m quite far back so my setb back’s relatively far back just to get a bit more grip on the on the rear end um and just with the 52 it ends up being quite balanced you know I’m not yeah I’m more over the bike not the bike’s over me so that’s that’s kind of the idea behind it um but apart from that I still run British breaks uh even though I’m on a on a Euro team and that gives the mechanics and problem sometimes when they’re working on my bikes but apart from that uh know very very stock very standard but that’s kind of what you need for cross if you start yeah it’s cross is history tradition and there’s a reason why it’s got so much history and tradition cuz it the bikes worked you know 10 20 years ago and they still work now so there’s not been very much Technology’s changed but that’s right sometimes one thing you do get a lot of control over is your tires you mentioned challenge tires but what what width you riding what like kind of tread pan are you riding on why uh today probably just the full lemis it’s yeah the the the course is throwing out quite a lot and to get the most grip I just need the lemus um but we have options yeah I’m really enjoying the flandrian this year it’s like a it’s like a smaller baby lus so there’s a lot of space between the Nobles which is really quite useful on certain courses and it Corners really well but I have everything from the side is all way up to the lamus 33s um some guys run the the 30 tires to kind of cut through the mud a bit better but yeah it’s just personal preference that’s yeah that that is something that Riders have a real personal with some guys never ride the sand tires some guys always ride gyos so it just depends but I’m I’m uh I’m been pretty happy on on the challenge so far so awesome nice nice kind of pick there thank you so much for your time best of luck in the race ni right cheers [Music]
