Just looking for a bike to ride with my kid and found this on marketplace. The ad says "Specialized S-Works Stump-jumper carbon-fiber 19” Mountain bike. Pristine condition, only rode a couple of times". They want $695 but will take $500. Claims they bought it for $2500. I am guessing it's old because I can't find the serial number on the specialized app. I am having trouble even finding the same bike online. Can anyone give me more info on this bike and is it worth the $500? Thanks!

I have no doubt that cost $2,500 in 2019. Probably worth about $200-$250 now. $300 TOPS

  2. $300 max but it’s so outdated I wouldn’t touch it. It’s probably from like 2010. Also old carbon is sketchy.

Very nice bike in its day, not at that price but $300 is reasonable for a well taken care of bike like this.

Definitely not worth $500. I’m all for buying older bikes especially as beginner bikes, but because the cost of entry on an older bike is much lower. This one could be decent at $300 if it’s in good shape and the maintenance items were gone through recently, if not then I’d say $200 is reasonable.

Carbon also ages and fatigues much quicker so I wouldn’t really recommend an older carbon bike for anything other than cruising around town.

  5. That bike looks like a lot of fun. 500$ is about right. It is older and might eventually get hard to find tires for, but if it fits, I would get it. Old hard tails are really maneuverable and are fun on city streets and flowy single track.

  6. Looks mint! Higher end components for the time! Id pay that. Try for 4 but that thing looks really well maintained. Ill concur that it wasnt ridden much. Ive been looking for an older hardtail and id rock it. Ive got several high end bikes in the garage and id be taking it home. Prob put a shorter stem on it
