it’s a new concept, 2WD bicycle for more cornering grip and faster accelerations.

Forget about the AI treatment of the rotors, some old crit dudes who have been rocking the 90 mm front rim and 30 rear since 2004 are going to lose their dang minds.

  3. Was this from an official Specialized outlet? Because they also misspelled Wind.

edit: Looks like it was on Specialized website but they’ve taken the image down.

  4. Why, though? Did a human look at this for five seconds? I get it when a startup uses crappy AI art on their web site in an attempt to make their product look cool when they don’t have any real pictures of it yet (or they are trying to sell some SaaS thing that is genuinely hard to make art for)…but Roval surely have the wheels, at least in prototype form, and a a bike. People buying high end wheel are nerds, and will immediately see that something is off, even if it was a somewhat successful use of AI.

  5. It seems like the artist generating these images with AI are spending as much time reviewing the output as I am reviewing the LLM generated code I check into prod.

What I find crazy is that I would think taking a picture of a bike would surely be faster than training a model with pictures of your new bike.

  6. Probably just locked the wheels in whatever 3d rendering program they use, then rotated the frame for atheistics.

  7. The cassette on the front wheel is hilarious 🤣🤣 This is the hype that will take over the world, that all major businesses are pumping money into 🤦‍♂️

Ignoring the blatant (and borked) AI brakes, are we really acting like a 3mm depth difference between front and rear is somehow revolutionary? Hell, I’d bet most folks don’t even notice the difference looking at it.

And also, great find, OP… Thanks for the laugh.

Clearly everything the AI thought it knew about wheels was wrong.
So I’m smarter than AI. For now. *looks at watch

  10. Is that a fking cassette on the front wheel? And the rear some how having the disk on the same side as the derailur? Ai slop yay….

  11. Everyone is crapping on this as AI, but I think it the point was “you’ve been running a deeper dish on your rear wheel than front, when if fact that should be swapped,” so they did that with the image. As in, its an intentional joke, if not a great one.

  12. 1. the rear disc is on the drive side

    2. the front wheel has a cassette

    3. the brake caliper in the front looks like it is engaging with the cassette and the disc is on the opposite side

    AI is the future

  13. Reasonable_Loquat874 on

This is intentional. Read the copy. The whole thing is about “flipping the script” and running deeper front wheel, so to be cheeky they swapped the wheels.

This has nothing to do with “AI”.

  14. It’s like an instagram woman that stretched her pic so far she now has size 22 shaq feet. Plus the front cassette is cool

I thought wheels were round. But apparently, since *everything* I thought I knew about wheels was wrong, I guess wheels are square?

  16. Guys. They said everything you know about wheels is wrong. I mean they legit said you don’t know cassettes go on the front.

  17. I love how AI looked at bike photos and said “cassette goes on the left-most wheel, disc brake rotors go on the far side of the bike”. Like, there is a world in which it was right, just not this one.

  18. maybe its deliberate

the depth difference wouldnt be obvious so perhaps to emphasise that they are going against convention they are making a joke about the rear wheel being on the front and the front wheel being on the rear. the fact that the non drive side of the bike is facing the viewer gives credence to this, like as though they have taken the normal setup of driveside faceing front forward then picked the frame up separate from the wheels and spun it around.

guys its not a mistake its a deliberate “hey look we are doing something different”

  19. I think it’s intentional — the whole copy is about how they’ve flipped the idea of the rear being deeper, so they’ve flipped the front wheel to the back.

But it’s probably just AI slop where someone uploaded a picture and said “put the front wheel on the back and vice versa”

  20. Not AI rather a 3D rendering (pretty common) where they missed to rotate the frame by 180° on the y axis, so it fits the wheels.
