I only started cycling a few months ago. Before that I had zero endurance background and mostly fast-twitch muscle fibers. I’ve played tennis since I was young, started running about a year ago, and picked up cycling three months ago.

This chart basically confirms what I expected: my sprint power is decent, but my endurance clearly needs work. My outdoor peak is 1400 W at 68 kg.

What’s the best way to improve? While maintaining or improving sprint

  1. Ride more. For more than an hour. You also probably haven’t rode your best at each of these intervals yet so you’ll smash a lot of points in this curve if you try to

  2. I’ve been riding for few years consistently (7k km a year in the last 3 years or so) and my graph looks quite the same. I’m quite curious on how to improve that as well but also wondering whether this is simply the consequence on focusing on Strava segments but never to try to get the best for longer times or if it is simply the consequence of where I ride (quite hilly)?
