Decided to try an 11-36 cassette on an old XT M735 rear derailleur. Supposed to clear 32t maximum but this barely clears and shifts good in friction. Not sure if I would try indexing with it. Some other photos just because.

Do you get tire rub from the chain when you’re on smallest in front and biggest in rear? I put an 8sp on my Specialized with a triple in front and am having some chainline issues in granny gear.
Yep 36 it should even track the cassette pretty well. A short cage Will improve that if you’re 1x

Phenomenal build. Defo wouldn’t try indexing the derailleur though, overextending the capacity like that requires a degree of finesse only friction can manage.

Looks awesome. top tube cable routing is so nice looking.
Chain is way too short. Your going to snap that tension spring for sure.
