I’ve been looking into a nice mountain bike after riding a $250 hardtail I got on marketplace on some local trails and deciding I enjoy it and would like to spend some real money on a nice bike. As of right now the two bikes I’m looking at are the stumpjumper 15 comp alloy or the canyon spectral al. They are about the same price with similar specs at the moment and wondering if anyone could give some advice on either of these bikes or an alternative that may be a good choice at this price point.

I’ve had the Stumpjumper 15 Comp Alloy for a month or so and couldn’t be more pleased with it as a “do everything” type of bike.
Where are you located? Check price of the Canyons after import charges. It can be quite expensive
I’d go the stunt jumper, I rode one on holiday and thought it was a nice trail bike.
I have heard bad things about canyons warranty and personally I’d prefer to have a shop to get things sorted out if something were to go wrong rather than a keyboard.
Considering the first Stumpy came out in 1981 they have that bad boy dialed. Maybe it’s my bias, but I’ve owned 7 Specialized bikes over the last 20 years and loved all of them.
The responses here already seem pretty unanimous to go with the stumpy
Wouldn’t take the spectral. Canyon still has problems with cheap welding in my experience
Personally I would get a high end used stumpy Evo for that price. (I have one not for sale bc it’s awesome) Otherwise the stumpy. Better resale value
