

I picked up this bike as a project over Covid but never got to it. I got it for cheap off Marketplace and this derailleur was attached by the bolt that holds the wheel. Is it possible for this to be properly mounted on the bike? Thank you!

Yes, but it’s missing a guide/seating bolt (the little hole). Look up Axle Mount Rear Derailleurs to see how they mount to the frame.
It can be used without the bolt but won’t sit correctly/might rotate when you don’t want it to.
Yes, should be no problem. The shifters are friction, not indexed, so no worry about compatibility.
Common patchwork piecing a bike together by a non mechanic makes that mounting mistake… go to a bike shop and get the right mounting bolt and nut . Look at a regular bike you’ll see. Its the nut on the backside thats proprietary. Regular hardware dont work
