Chainstay was damaged by what I believe to be a rock strike while riding. Am I correct in assuming it probably isn’t safe to ride as is? Would I be able to diy fix it with a carbon repair kit?

Ok no specialist, but I think it’s fine, shouldn’t be structural damage, I’d cover/repair it to prevent fraying though
Sand the area with 220 grit. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Apply your favourite epoxy. Topcoat with something UV resistant if you’re really fancy.
