Hey all!
I’m about to take my mtb on a long trip (~1000 miles) and I’m looking at bar ends and sq labs inner bar ends. This is my first flatbar bike and I can’t imagine just being on the grips the whole time. Looking particularly at the below two options. What I want to know is if anyone has used the longer bar ends inside of the grips, and how they like it. The only thing i have against the sq labs is that they are short. Appreciate any answers!

I run the Profile Design Brief bar ends inside of my grips and I absolutely love them!! They’re about in-between the two sizes that Ritchey offers, definitely longer than the SQLabs.
I think medium long is good, the Profile Design Briefs are just long enough that their length mitigates the narrowness of where they’re mounted a cm or so inside my grips, so I don’t change my back position too much in them, just where my arms rest. It makes it feel more familiar as another drop bar rider and let’s my move my hands instinctively on longer pedalling sections.
Photo for reference, and I do consider the bar tape to be a necessity on the extensions.

I had this setup for many years and was quite happy with it. Used it both in upright position to change the grip and as a semi-aero-bar in strong wind. Changed to a different setup after switching to carbon bar. Keep in mind, that your brake levers will be quite far away, compared to road/gravel bar.
Spirgrips few-$ knockoffs here!

No issues with them being short. Actually I like it that way, because you can either grab then with rotated hands like the typical barends or you can grab them in an ‘on hoods’ way.
I have the sq innerbarends on my bikes. I love them for climbing and when I’m just cruising on flat ground. I don’t feel that they are too short, and I have pretty big hands.
