No that is not normal and there should be no movement. Just going by the image alone it could be a few things.

Cranks not installed correctly and or spacers missing.

Anymore information would be helpful, did you remove the cranks? Are they new?

  2. First of all, no. Not normal. What is moving here is your crank. Did you buy this new? Did you assemble it yourself? This looks like the non-drive side (the side with no chain) is not inserted far enough on the spindle of the crank. If you’re not handy with bikes, bring this to the lbs. I also wouldn’t ride it to the lbs.

  3. Lose the 2 bolts on the non drive side crank arm. Then tighten the pre load cap until no play. Then tighten the 2 bolts again.

  4. Loosen the two allen pinch bolts on the non-drive side, tighten the preload cap to get rid of the gap/slack, and then tighten the two allen bolts back up. I’m pretty sure that should help, unless there’s a missing spacer/shim which might have needed to be installed on the drive side, between bottom bracket and chain ring.

  5. Yikes! Your crankset is not correctly installed! Make sure the CAP on the non drive side is tightened down until there is no more play in the cranks. I’d look up, “Shimano Hollowtech II Crank Install” to make sure all steps are followed correctly.

This is the crank axle and there are spacers missing! Get them at the shop you bought that miserable mounted bike!
